A Deeper Dive

The start of a newsletter, more than Instagram, less than the New York Times.....

Hey everyone, thanks for being part of my first newsletter/email thing…. I’ve been thinking about something like this for a while, a deeper dive into my work and things that I come across in work and life that are worth sharing.

Snacktime

Remember in grade school when you got to take a break and have a few minutes to eat and hang out with your friends.? Here are some conversation starters, photos, and links. You supply the milk, and snacks.

Dusting One Off - Into the Archive

February 25, 2009 - Cutler, the MWAC avalanche dog. One of the best dogs I’ve ever spent time with, well trained, fit as hell, and always game to eat sticks.

During my handful of years working as a snow ranger/ Avalanche forecaster in Tuckerman Ravine I got to spend a ton on time out in the snow, wind, storms on Mount Washington. Most times dragging along a camera, and really fascinated by the interaction of snow, light and wind. Inspiring a personal project I’ve been calling “Geography of Snow” click on the link and explore a bit of it while the temps drop here in New Hampshire.

An Org to check out

Elevate Youth - empower youth to explore the outdoors alongside mentors, sharing awe and the richness of our natural world.

A really small organization based in Boston, focused on figuring out ways to get kids out in nature, playing, learning and exploring the world outside.

Kids using photography to learn about animals, science, and being creative.

Adventure of the week

Loudenshire Farm for New Hampshire Magazine. Jim Czack and Annette Young raise waterfowl, sheep, poultry, and beef of the highest quality for local chefs. Jill, the writer, Evan, the chef at Stages and I spent some time roaming around the farm and learning from Jim and Annette about the history and efforts that go into raising these animals. I took home a half-dozen turkey eggs and they’ve been delicious. Looking forward to going to Stages Restaurant in Dover to finish the story.

A couple of rosters strutting back into the barn.

Thanks for reading through. I’d love to hear your feedback, ideas for adventures, and what you’ve got planned for the coming season.
